Positive Thoughts

I came to check something on my computer and saw my brother Tim was on Skype. I checked in with him. He is in Cape Town. He sent me this gorgeous picture taken on Christmas Day - sunrise in the Karoo.

My sister Jane sent me these - good thoughts to have in this in-between week...
These sorts of uplifting sentiments fuel my inner-fire and help blow my hair back as I press forward with steadfastness!

Bad Start... Good Finish!

"I am tired of moaning about my bad start. I am going to have a good finish!
Are you over committed and under satisfied?
You have to make sure you put your time into your purpose.
The church grew and they (the members) complained...
Learn to deal with problems properly.
I am going to stay devoted to my purpose...
Spend regular quality time with God every morning.
Busy. Busy. Busy. We wear it like a badge!
Christians are supposed to help people.
I am living with purpose.
I am living with passion.
Surely there is more to life than being busy!
We all need a good shake every now and again!
Ask yourself "Why?" on a lot of stuff you do and you will discover that you do a lot of things you don't need to do.
Are you too busy?
Life does not need to be as chaotic as it is."

Joyce Meyer

We won't be happy pleasing people if we are not pleasing God."

Balance... Balance... Balance...

Health
Drink cool, clear water – every day. Drink about 6 – 8 glasses regularly.
Eat more food grown on trees and plants, and less food manufactured in plants.
Live the three E’s – Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
Make time for prayer - daily.
Play more.
Read more good books.
Take time out - at least five minutes in every waking hour.
Sleep - seven hours minimum - more nights than not.
Walk purposefully for ten to twenty minutes each day.
Smile - at least once every day.

Personality
Don’t compare your life to anothers – You can't know their burdens.
Don’t hold on to negative thoughts. Give them a kick, let them go.
Invest your energy and creativity in the positives of your present.
Keep within your emotional limits most of the time.
Don’t take yourself so seriously – no one else does.
Don’t waste your time and energy on gossip.
Dream more while you are awake.
Don’t waste your time on envy and jealousy.
Forget issues of the past.
Don’t remind your loved-ones of their mistakes of the past.
Don’t remind yourself of your past mistakes.
Relish and cherish your present happinesses.
Don’t waste time hating anyone, including yourself.
Make peace with your past – It is past.
You are in charge of your happiness – discover how to be happier.
Realize: Life is a School – you are here to learn. Learn.
Problems are simply a part of your custom-designed curriculum.
Life is a test. Your life is your test.
Smile more. Or smile less if you smile too much...
Laugh more often.
Agree to disagree. You don’t have to win every argument.

Community
Phone or visit your family often. Take care of these relationships.
Give some good of yourself to another – every day.
Forgive others around you.
Spend some time regularly with the over 70’s and the under 6’s.
Share a smile or more with another person every day.
Remember: what other people think of you is what they think of you.
Work will come to an end. Develop other aspects of yourself.

Life
Choose to do the right things.
Get rid of things that aren't useful, true or beautiful - 'sift and save' regularly.
God is able to heal everything that needs healing - you are not.
Good situations, bad situations, all these will change and change.
No matter how otherwise you feel: Get up. Get dressed. Groom yourself.
Greet God each morning and each evening.
Every day is a new start – make it count – today is your past of your future.
Be… today.

Too Perfect

"If it's too perfect, it's static.
It has to have some inconsistencies to give it some feeling."
Stained Glass Artist talking about his wonderful stained glass creations.
(interviewed on BYU Television.)
Reminds me of a training session I was in where a bowl of tumbled semi-precious stones was passed around. We were each invited to take one and look at it, hold it, and feel it - keep it in our hands - during the training session.
At the end we were instructed to put our stones in the bowl again.
The bowl was then passed around again and we each, with closed eyes, were invited to feel in the bowl and recognise and retrieve our own stone.
We then discussed the experience.
I was surprised.
I knew my stone immediately - I could recognise it BY IT'S IMPERFECTIONS!
(I instantly realised, as well, that if all the stones in the bowl were perfect, I would not be able to recognise my stone with my eyes closed... and maybe... if they all looked the same in their perfect state - I might not even easily recognise my own...)
As well as those "inadequacies" thankfully and familiarly identified, I could open my eyes and see why I chose my stone in the first place - for it's colour and interesting other characteristics...
Life is Good!
I am blessed with what I have been able to learn!

We Preach...

"We preach best what we most need to learn."
"Luther" Movie

I would render it with these emphases:
"WE preach best what WE most need to learn."
or
"We preach best what WE MOST need to learn."
"We preach best what WE most NEED to learn"
"We preach best what WE most need to LEARN"

Try this: It has been most revealing of me to me -
It has also been most helpful to me!
(I am learning to "Mind my own business"
In other words Look after, do what needs doing in the

governing and sorting out of myself:
The mote and the beam...)

Notice WHAT you are preaching...
Consider who needs most to learn the lessons you are preaching.
YOU learn to Practice what YOU Preach.
BE a Light rather than be a Judge.
"Let your LIGHT so shine before men
that they may see your GOOD WORKS
and glorify your Father in Heaven."

"BE the change you want to see."

I find I "preach" in a different manner
during and after my own personal cleansing process...
Which doesn't feel like preaching any more, rather like sharing.
This seems to be useful to the people who are part of my life
as well as some others who drift in and pass out of my days.

Blessings from God, and me too, on all who read this.
